Project 1 - Red Italian Gamurra

The Gamurra was a dress that was popular in Renaissance Italy during the 15th and 16th centuries.  I learned about this dress through a member of the barony and she helped me to initially pattern the bodice and learn how the pieces all fit together.  I had previously made a black version but I wanted to try again and upgrade what I had originally created.  I eventually want to add additional embellishments.

The current dress is a work in progress and is made out of red linen. I have handsewn eyelets on the front of it and on the shoulders for the sleeves to attach once I create new ones.  It is currently laced up the front with ribbons but I am working on a lucet cord to make it more period and to keep it laced up better (the ribbons like to slip a lot).  I also want to add aglets to the sleeve lacings to help them stay in place once I get the cording completed.
